CaneCorsoBBB.com (Cane Corso Better Breeders Bureau) is the Breeder
Ratings & Feedback Forum for Cane Corso Dog and Puppy Owners
BBB Guidelines Purpose of
Cane Corso Better Breeders Bureau:
The intention of the Cane Corso Better
Breeders Bureau is to improve the breeding practices within the Cane Corso
dog breed. We hope to accomplish this by allowing a forum (a voice!) for
past clients to post their feedback about the breeder from whom they
purchased a Cane Corso. Feedback can be as positive or negative as a client
sees fit, so long as all claims are factual and can be substantiated if
disputed by the breeder in question. We hope this will be used as an
unbiased resource for prospective Cane Corso buyers to become informed on
what breeders they can choose from, and what kind of experience was had by
past clients of that breeder. By making prospective buyers more informed we
hope they will make better decisions regarding the breeder they choose,
which will in turn lead to better health and breeding practices in the Cane
Corso breed.
Rules for Puppy Owner Posting:
Every Cane Corso owner obtained his or
her puppy from a breeder, and every Cane Corso owner deserves to have a
place to voice their opinion of their breeder. Here at the Cane Corso BBB,
owners of a Cane Corso are entitled to make one post under their respective
breeder for every Cane Corso puppy purchased. If you have purchased more
than one Cane Corso from a breeder, you may make more than one post, or make
one post to include both dogs. A client may describe their experience with
the breeder in any way they choose, provided they adhere to the following
rules:
-
No
vulgar or offensive language will be allowed.
-
No
threatening will be allowed.
-
No
unsubstantiated claims (defamation) will be allowed.
-
No
posting of another person's personal information will be allowed without
given consent.
-
No
more than one post will be allowed per dog.
-
No
website links will be allowed.
To clarify the above rules, do not
swear, make threats or use offensive language. Do not post someone else’s
personal information (home address, phone number, e-mail address, etc.)
without their consent. Do not make any more than one post per Cane Corso you
own. You may make any claim about the breeder so long as you can
substantiate your claim. You may state your Cane Corso has excellent hips if
you have the OFA certification to prove this. Do not say your dog has
excellent hips if this is based on nothing but observation, and do not claim
that every dog from XYZ breeder has excellent hips unless you have proof of
OFA certifications for every dog that breeder has bred. The burden is on the
client to prove that any claims made concerning their Cane Corso or
concerning their Cane Corso breeder are accurate, or the entire post will be
removed.
You must fill out the form as fully and
accurate as possible. We ask for your phone number if we need to contact you
for verification purposes. If a breeder disputes the authenticity of a
client's post, and we do not have the client’s personal information to
contact them and verify their post, the post will be deleted. Therefore, it
is very important to fill this information out fully and accurately as it
helps to insure your post will remain valid and posted on our site.
Clients may feel free to post factual
and substantiated information on any area they see fit. Opinion is allowed
so long as it is clearly stated that it is just your opinion. Statements
regarding a dog’s health however, such as “my dog had cherry eye” can only
be stated if the clients veterinarian can supply proof, that indeed, your
Cane Corso had cherry eye.
We encourage all puppy owners to discuss
the following topics:
-
Feelings they had while conducting
business with the breeder: Was the breeder knowledgeable about the breed?
Willing to share information? Willing to educate you on the breed? Willing
to answer all your questions and concerns?
-
Feelings after having conducted
business with the breeder: Did the breeder stay in contact? Express
concern to the homes he was placing dogs in? Follow through with any
information or promises made? Follow up on the health and status of the
dog? Have procedures in place to place the dog in another home if you
cannot care for the dog?
-
Condition of the breeder’s kennel:
How many dogs? How they are cared for? The overall condition of their
environment.
-
Information concerning the breeders
contract: Did the contract seem fair and protect breeder, client and Cane
Corso? Were all conditions listed in the contract followed and fulfilled?
-
Paperwork: Was it supplied and does
it appear accurate?
-
Health: Any topics concerning the
health of the Cane Corso. Issues such as canine hip dysplasia, epilepsy,
cherry eye, mange, etc. Also, the condition your puppy arrived in, and the
overall health of your puppy since. Any knowledge of whether or not your
breeder tests their stock for health issues, provides this information to
their clients, and breeds their stock based on minimizing the occurrences
of these problems.
-
Temperament: Your feelings on how
well adjusted your Cane Corso was and currently is, and the stability of
the dog as a whole. Please keep in mind many temperament problems are not
genetic, and are more related to training and individual time a Cane Corso
owner spends with his Cane Corso, among other factors, so please be aware
of the full picture before commenting on this. There are differences in
temperament from breed to breed, and from dog to dog, and many influencing
factors in between. Also, the temperament of the Sire and Dam of your dog.
Were you allowed to meet the Sire and Dam?
-
Lineage: Does your Cane Corso have
breed club champions in their lineage? (You can verify championships at
American Champions.)
Were they inbred such as Father to Daughter or Brother to Sister? Were
there any health issues in your dog’s ancestry, such as epilepsy etc? Are
you able to research and find information on other dogs in your lineage?
Will your breeder put you in contact with other Cane Corso owners in your
dog’s lineage or with other people with dogs from your breeder?
-
Whether or not you’d buy another Cane
Corso from this breeder.
-
Your overall opinion of the breeder
and the Cane Corso puppy you purchased.
Procedure for filing and handling of grievances with
the site:
-
All Cane Corso breeders are welcome
to visit the site and read the comments. If a Cane Corso breeder wishes to
receive notifications whenever one of their puppy owners submits feedback
on this site, we offer this service as a part of
CaneCorso.com Breeder
Membership. Any breeder who believes an erroneous, untruthful or
unsubstantiated post has been made which impacts their reputation as a
breeder can file a formal grievance using our
feedback form and the status of the
investigation will be noted under the post in question.
-
Breeders are NOT allowed to post a
response to a claim made, or make any post of any kind on this site. All
grievances must go through the administrators of this site at the link
provided above. If a breeder chooses to ignore the procedure for filing a
grievance and makes a post, their IP address will be banned and their
grievance will NOT be investigated. The post under dispute will remain
posted. Breeders, please follow the rules, and use our
feedback form to file your grievance.
-
Grievances will be handled by the
site administrators. The client of the breeder in question will be
contacted and the burden is on the client to prove any statements made. If
a client can prove his or her claim by whatever means, the post will
remain valid, and continue to be posted on our site. If the client cannot
provide proof of their claim in one form or another within 72 hours, their post
(or portion of the post) will be
removed. If it is a matter of opinion, our site believes strongly in the
right to free speech, and so long as the person posting does so tastefully
and follows the rules, they are entitled to their opinion.
-
It is important to note that every
post made on this site is done so by a client of the breeder they are
posting under. They should have a valid AKC-FSS, ICCF or FCPR registry
number to prove this, unless the breeder did not supply paperwork. Any
claims made will have to be verified if questioned by the breeder, at
which time will be noted by the editor as to the status of the
investigation. If the
claim made is not proven by the client within 72 hours, the post (or
portion of the post) will be removed. Therefore, all
posts that are standing on the site can be assumed truthful or
uncontested.
-
Our "No-Harassment" Policy, effective
1/26/2007: The Cane Corso BBB does not tolerate harassment of any kind
towards our volunteer moderators. Any individual who threatens, uses foul
language towards any of our volunteer moderators or otherwise violates our
Cane Corso BBB Guidelines will immediately and irrevocably be banned from
further use of our site without prior notice. Our volunteer moderators are
generous individuals who devote their personal time to the Cane Corso BBB
and we will not allow their personal lives to be subject to the threats of
any "unhappy" individual. If anyone would like to privately voice their
concerns (not threats), we ask that you use our feedback form or use our
new 24-hour voice messaging and fax service (206-350-3408) and your
communication will be transmitted simultaneously to all moderators.
Rules regarding the moderation of the site:
-
The moderation duties are handled
by at least four moderators.
-
All moderators are unaffiliated
with one another.
-
Every post made is automatically and
immediately posted to the site, and copies are sent to all moderators.
-
Moderators are responsible for
the handling of grievances.
-
A copy of every grievance filed by a
breeder via our feedback form is sent
to all moderators.
-
One moderator is chosen in each
case to contact the client who made the post in question.
-
The burden is on the client to supply
proof of their claim within 72 hours or the post (or portion of the post)
will be removed.
-
If the client does provide proof of a
claim, the moderators will review and determine if the proof provided
is sufficient. If not, the post is removed and a post will be made by the
moderator in its place stating that the client was unable to
substantiate their claim, so the claim was removed. If the proof is
deemed sufficient, the post will remain on our site, and the moderator
will add a post to indicate which claim was being disputed, how it was
resolved, and the proof that was provided to resolve the dispute and
verify the post as accurate.
All other questions or concerns please
contact the site administrators using our
feedback form.
