Bob and I planned on attending the Rarities/NAKC
Gold Miner Classic in Sacramento on Saturday to support Amy & Chris with
Enzo & Cinzia and also to meet up with a few other local puppy owners
(Carina, Vulcan, Nico, Lola). We made a last minute decision to bring Romeo
and thought it might be fun to enter him in the first two out of five shows
(since we had to leave in the afternoon) even though we haven't
shown him in over two years. Vulcan's owner Chris also decided to enter the
first two shows and Bob introduced him to the show ring. Here are the accomplishments of our Morgan and California dogs:
The video below is Cinzia with her owner/handler Amy Ebbesen. They make an excellent team together and I think it's pretty amazing to see such a level of showmanship especially since Cinzia is only 8 months of age! Notice how Amy already has her self-stacking and watch how attentive Cinzia is to her in the ring. This judge went on to award her Winners Bitch, Best of Winners, Best of Opposite Sex, Best Junior Puppy in Group and Best In Show Junior Puppy. Jr. Puppy Working Group: Cane Corso (California's Cinzia), Leonberger Breed (Show #1): Ch. Romeo, Ch. Enzo, Cassius, California's Cinzia Working Group (Show #2): Leonberger, Dogue de Bordeaux, Presa Canario, Cane Corso Breed (Show #3): Ch. Enzo, Cassius, California's Cinzia

of the crowd, kids, music and snacks, she decided to take a nap in the sun
while we waited in line!

| We just received an autographed copy of the book "Canine Reflections" by Duff Lueder (published by Authorhouse, August 2005) from Justice's owners. California's Justice was featured in a heartwarming story about the amazing bond between him and his 2-legged sister Jasmine, due to the successful training methods enforced by parents Joel and Jen. Thanks so much for the book, we really treasure you sharing the memory with us and we absolutely love the photo of Justice with Jasmine! |

| Congratulations to Nicoletta and Cyrano, who both earned their American Temperament Test Society "TT" titles today! |
| We've finally (somewhat!) settled into our new home and have decided to postpone our repeat breeding, Litter B, until Giulietta's next heat cycle (expected at the end of this year). We have been so busy lately, there has not been much time to dedicate to Cane Corso matters and it looks like we will remain quite busy through the end of 2005. We just purchased acreage in Livermore, CA which will be the site for our next home! |
| Nicoletta is 2 years old today! |

| Giulietta began her heat cycle, which came one month early (we were expecting it to happen in January). Due to our planned move in February, we have decided to wait until her next heat cycle (in May?) to breed her, as we do not want to be in the middle of a move when she is ready to have her puppies. |

| 7 puppies ears were cropped today at the Loomis Basin Veterinary Clinic: Alina, Amalfi, Amato, Apollonia, Adamo and Azzino. Everything went well and we gave them some Baby Benadryl for a good night's sleep! Today, our first puppy left...Arnaldo is spending his first night at his new home. |
|
Tuesday, March 23, 2004 |
| The puppies received their 2nd set of vaccinations today as well as their AVID EuroChip microchips. |
|
Wednesday, March 10, 2004 |
| The puppies had their first "real" bath today, in our laundry sink! |
|
Saturday, March 6, 2004 |
| This morning we went downstairs to the puppy nursery and lo and behold...all of the puppies were out of the whelping box! Bob says it's finally time that they sleep in the garage pen tonight, I guess I've kept them inside for as long as we could. :) Today we are enjoying beautiful 70 degree weather with lots of sunshine and bright blue skies and the puppies love their one-on-one time outside with us and their 4-legged mommy and daddy! |
|
Friday, March 5, 2004 |
| Bob performed the Volhard test early this morning while I videotaped. You can review individual test results on each puppy's webpage, but the median score of the entire litter was 2.95! As a place to keep the puppies when I clean the whelping box (since they have gotten too big to stay in the two large tubs I used to use), Bob set up a puppy pen in our garage today and put a large plastic crate inside (without the door) so they can go inside their "den" and also so they start getting used to the crate. They absolutely love it - all of them pile inside to sleep! Today we will begin the puppy selection process so that each family knows which one they should be doting on for the next 4 weeks! |
|
Tuesday, March 2, 2004 |
| We took the puppies to the vet for their first set of vaccinations, they are six weeks old today. Although we were warned that they might cry in pain, none of the puppies even flinched! Since they all scored a "1" on the Volhard Touch Sensitivity test, we suspected they have a good tolerance for pain, but they made us proud anyway! |
|
Monday, March 1, 2004 |
| This past week, the puppies have grown completely out of their "babyhood" stage and all of their personalities have really started to emerge! They run, jump, pounce, bark, tug, bite, wrestle and some have even climbed out of the whelping box (Adamo was the first, Arnaldo was next, Amalfi followed)...oh, the joys of puppyhood! :) |
| We said goodbye to our sweet baby Ariella today. |
|
Thursday, February 19, 2004 |
| Although we feel the puppies are still too young to get an accurate reading (they all scored mostly 3's), we went through the Volhard puppy aptitude tests today. We will perform the test again in 1-2 weeks when they are more mature. |
|
Tuesday, February 17, 2004 |
| Today, we took photos and video footage of the puppies eating puppy mush! |
|
Monday, February 16, 2004 |
| We took pictures of the puppies again today and they were all cooperative in stacking for the photos (some more than others!) |
|
Sunday, February 15, 2004 |
| At 26 days of age, I managed to take a couple of head shots of each puppy. They are all growing so fast and walking better and faster (some puppies are even pouncing!) and are also noisier, too! Simply adorable... |
|
Monday, February 9, 2004 |
| The puppies are 20 days of age and we took front and profile photos of each one. Today, we also trimmed their nails again. They are getting quite playful with each other and with us, as well (biting on our fingers)! |
|
Saturday, February 7, 2004 |
| We saw the first signs of baby teeth today! Their vocalizations are getting much louder and they even bark and growl now. |
|
Friday, February 6, 2004 |
| We put colored ribbons on the puppies today and assigned each one a color so that we can identify them in action as we evaluate their interaction. |
|
Thursday, February 5, 2004 |
| The puppies can now stand while they go pee and poo! They are all so polite and go to a far corner to do their business before returning to sleep with the littermates (except when they are awakened by Mamma Giulietta returning to the whelping box, then they pee and poo in the mad rush to get to her!) |
|
Wednesday, February 4, 2004 |
| We took many individual photos of each puppy today and have added them to each puppy's web page. All puppies have opened their eyes now and I've managed to snap several action photos (yes, it was quite a challenge to photograph them now that they can move around pretty good!) They also began to start "playing" today, mouthing each other and pawing at each other as well. |
|
Tuesday, February 3, 2004 |
| The puppies are two weeks old today! We had an appointment at the vet this afternoon to remove the stitches from their tails. We also recorded their weight, which was from 1.9 lbs. to 3.1 lbs. They are also getting better at wobbling around - you can see them "run" to mamma when they want to eat! We also managed to videotape them individually and most of them "walked" on camera, although a couple of puppies did not want to do anything but sleep! |
|
Sunday, February 1, 2004 |
| The puppies are starting to use their legs when getting around now; they're still quite wobbly but they're strong enough now to lift their body off the ground! They're also getting to be quite plump and are a lot stronger than they look. Today, we trimmed their nails for the first time so they start getting used to it and not become a challenge in the future! |
| Their eyes are starting to open today at 11 days old! Some more than others, but we are able to see a tiny glint of an eye to eyes partly open to eyes wide open. |
|
Friday, January 30, 2004 |
| Today the puppies are 10 days old! The website will be updated tonight with new photos of all the puppies...together and individually. Now each puppy has their own web page! |
|
Thursday, January 29, 2004 |
| The puppies are all still doing very well and even starting to develop more personality! Their sleeping positions seem to vary - some like to curl up in a ball, some like to squeeze in between their littermates and some like to sleep on top of their littermates! |
|
Tuesday, January 27, 2004 |
| The puppies are a week old today and have grown so much since birth! They are getting pretty adept at crawling around the whelping box and they have just begun to be turn up the volume in their vocalizations! |
|
Friday, January 23, 2004 |
| The pigment is just starting to appear in the puppies' pads and noses. Mamma is doing such a great job in feeding them and has an abundance of milk, so no need to bottle-feed as of now! |
|
Thursday, January 22, 2004 |
| The puppies had their tails docked this afternoon. |
|
Wednesday, January 21, 2004 |
| Mamma and the babies are all doing well! What a joy to observe them make baby noises as they eat with tails wagging! The umbilical cords have fallen off today. |
|
Tuesday, January 20, 2004 |
| Giulietta delivered her first puppy at approximately 6:15am today and delivered puppy #13 at 10:45am!!! There were a total of 7 males and 6 females. So far, it looks like we have 4 fawns and the rest...formentino? We'll have to see how their coat turns out in the next couple of weeks! |
|
Monday, January 19, 2004 |
| It's 11:00pm and no puppies yet...but Giulietta has been panting and restless since noon today, so we're expecting her to deliver them soon...maybe tomorrow? |
|
Saturday, January 17, 2004 |
| Our puppy cam is now live, and we've added more photos of Giulietta at 60 days pregnant. We're also expecting our first Romeo x Giulietta litter today, but it's 5:45pm and no signs yet... |
|
Tuesday, January 13, 2004 |
| We've added photos of Giulietta (8 weeks pregnant) and the Puppy Nursery! |
|
Monday, January 12, 2004 |
| We are working on getting a webcam set up in the Puppy Nursery so puppy buyers can be right with their future puppies from birth! |
|
Thursday, January 8, 2004 |
| Today was the first day we could actually see and feel the puppies moving around! Giulietta was laying on her side (she's getting to be quite large now, so that's probably the most comfortable position for her) and we could see small movements, like puppies kicking. She is also getting to be quite large...we are guessing that Giulietta will have...maybe...10 puppies??? |
|
Thursday, January 1, 2004 |
| We've added photos of Giulietta (6 weeks pregnant) and have made revisions to our contract/guarantee. |
| Our "Purchase Agreement & Guarantee" is now complete! Also, our downstairs den has been transformed into a "Puppy Nursery" so Giulietta and her babies will have their own space - among us, but separate...and warm! |
| Romeo and Giulietta got married today! |
